What is the maximum resolution possible for DVI? I have it currently on 1280x720 but can\\\'t get it higher than this. Hedwin

Mine is usually 1440x900@60 but I believe it\\\'s not the maximum possible. With best regards Antonio Molina.

Hello! Please, check in: http://labs.igep.es/index.php/The_bootloader_U-Boot It says in \\\"default u-boot environment\\\" paragraph the line: setenv bootargs-base \\\'console=ttyS2,115200n8 console=tty0 omapfb.mode=dvi:1024x768MR-16@60\\\' The only solution is \\\"try-and-test\\\". Because of my TV the best resolution is 1440x900MR-24@60 With the best regards, Antonio.

The Maximum resolution with OMAP processor be 2048x2048. But it depend about what your monitor can support. Manel

Hi Manel, Does resolution affect OMAP performance? I mean: 2048x2048x bits per colour @60Hz equals lots of bandwith, this is obvious for video playback (plus video decoding also consuming lots of resources). It\\\'s going to be not possible 2048x2048 video playback, but my question is: does higher resolution mean more work for OMAP running X windowing system? Higher resolution -> rest of the system slower? Thanks Ric

yes. Higher resolution consumes more system resources.

    Will I also need custom modesettings in X? Guess I\\\'ll have to \"try and test\" :P .

The 2048x2048 is the resolution for a TFT, but the chip handle DVI might have different restrictions. Hedwin

Manel, The omap could handle other (higher) resolutions but isn\\\'t DVI handled by an external FPGA. In that case it is the FPGA that defines the max resolution for the DVI and not the OMAP, isn\\\'t it. Hedwin

Fpga? We don\\\'t use any fpga ... The OMAP DSS controller it\\\'s connected directly to a DVI trasmitter, the unique limitation it\\\'s the max clock frequency that the DVI trasnmitter can work in our case 165 Mhz. Manel

In that case, what is the max resolution the transmitter can handle? Any specs available about the DVI transmitter used?
